Panthers star doesn't want trade
Captain Olli Jokinen said Monday he doesn't want to be traded, has never asked the Panthers to trade him and that coach and General Manager Jacques Martin told him less than a week ago no deals involving him have been discussed. Jokinen's remarks were in response to Saturday's report on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.'s Hockey Night in Canada that the Panthers' longest-tenured player "definitely wants to be traded" and "hates" Martin.

This guy is toiling in obscurity because of the team he plays for. He's got awesome skills, plays both ends of the ice, and appears to be an acceptably good leader. If he could get out of Florida and on to some team (ANY team) that gets any kind of media attention, he'd become a superstar. He MAY have said he wants out - but you can't admit saying that kind of stuff, because it makes it harder for a team to trade you. What I wouldn't do to get this guy in Detroit, cheap...

Calgary will be hot for Olli, Keenan loves him. It would give the Flames a pivot that could play with Tanguay on the 2nd unit. Calgary is one player away from making another serious run in the post season, and Jokkinen would be a perfect fit.

I agree, joe, but I think that at this point, any big name player that Calgary picks up is going to cost them tanguay. If they were talking Tanguay for Ryder just a week ago, you gotta think he'd be involved in a trade for Jokinen...
