08:17 AM ET 11.22 | Nick Swisher may get his payday, after all -- in among the unlikliest of places. According to a person with knowledge of the situation the Red Sox have an interest in the switch-hitting right fielder who can also handle first base. "He is on their radar," the person said of the Yankees' blood rivals who need a right fielder and first baseman and have vowed to spend money this offseason. Of course, there is a wide gulf between being on a team's radar and actually joining that club. A 32-year old (his birthday is Sunday) switch-hitter who can play a corner spot in the outfield and infield and has value, Swisher batted .272 with 24 homers and 93 RBIs (his most in his four seasons as a Yankee) last season.

It seems that the Sox or on a desperate mission to try and convince their fans and maybe themselves that they can win this year by picking up older players with experience, but it won't happen.

What screams rebuild more than a 32-year old with inflated, FA year Yankee Stadium stats who was beyond putrid in the playoffs?!Meet your AL East basement dwellers for the next 5 years, people.

Wow, amazing how many Blue Jays fans are getting so cocky because of one trade. A trade BTW, that's has just as good a chance of blowing up right in their faces.

I would hate more if the Yankees signed him for the 4 years 50 million the article believes is on the table for him. A lot more. Time for him to move on.

I was wrong. They said $60 million. No way do I spend $15 million a year on him for the next four years. I think he ends up in the NL. West coast guy.

If he does sign with Boston it will be for the simple reason that he wants to avoid another humiliating post season performance. He wouldn't have to worry about that in Beantown.

swisher would love to spank some yankee pitchers, should he sign with their rivals in the east division??

i think he should stay in the east american league, and it could very well be either with the red sox,,,bip bip bip,,or the blue jays who are surprising every team in both leagues,,,

An outfield with both Swisher and Gomes would be defensively challenged.
