Heat center Alonzo Mourning said Monday that he is more focused on his recovery from knee surgery than the thought of retiring anytime soon. In his first public comments since his Dec. 20 knee surgery, Mourning said the first month of his recovery is going well, but added that the healing process has left him restless.

The Heat miss his defense.......Not saying he is the sole reason for their failure but they are 0-14 without him......He still can rebound and block shots

Go out on your terms, Zo.....Not some kidney disease or freak injury

I wouldn't mind seeing Zo come back. He plays hard every game, and every minute. Good luck with whatever you do Zo..

Zo really can play defense and that being the case thought he was a great basketball player that can be compared to SHAQ's hayday, remember those times? which is very similar to Kenyon Martin. Anyway he should retire, enjoy the loot.

Mourning is a chump who should retire and continue with his charitable work. He stiffed two teams to play with the Heat and win a championship, not to mention pocketing the Raptors money, retire loser

why would he want to come back and play for the heat? i could maybe seeing it if the heat were good but there going to suck until shaq retires or takes a pay cut

January 22, 2008  01:28 PM ET

If he comes back, the center position on the Heat will be decent next season. I think Shaq and Zo can play 48 minutes per game.

Hoorah for Zo. What a player....what a man. Go out YOUR way, you've earned it.

January 22, 2008  07:46 PM ET

Stubborn. If he had retired at the beginning of the season, his roster spot would have gone to a young player who not only could "give a few solid minutes" but be a vital part of the Heat this season. But he didnt.

If he really thought about the Heat's future, he should have calculated his age and Shaq's, that would be 72 all together. Did he honestly think, at their ages, they could still bang with the other big boys for the whole 48 mins, in an 82 game grind. Plus the playoffs? (They arent making it now) .

Shaq's back-up should have been someone he could mentor to be a beast like he was once. All that knowledge of the big man game going to waste.

Hang it up Zo. Youre just fanning the flames on your stubborn persona. After stiffing the Nets and the Raps claiming you "may only have one more season left to contend for a ring", you somehow had an extra year or two after that. And now you tell the already stinking Heat squad, wait for my 37 year old arse, I can still play 15 mins. Youre great with your charity work and I commend you for that. Just focus on them.

January 22, 2008  07:58 PM ET

Irv, hes 37 now. He will be 38 when he insists on playing again. Hey Riles, do something right and say no to his comeback.
