Brown on the hot seat at Texas again

08:15 AM ET 11.23 | Turns out that in TCU Texas has found a rival to replace Texas A&M. Mostly, it found a much better team than itself, and that's troubling. Just when they had even the most remote chance at a BCS bowl and a share of the Big 12 championship ... they puckered up. Gone is a shot at the Fiesta Bowl and maybe even the Cotton Bowl if they fall to league-leading Kansas State on the road next Saturday, and back are concerns about the same disturbing Texas rush defense and some of the same reservations about Mack Brown's ability to lead this program back to prominence. A collective 21-15 record since the Rose Bowl loss to Alabama, including three straight seasons of at least three losses, doesn't exactly stir the souls of Longhorn patriots.

Might lose out on the Cotton Bowl? I knew they didn't want to play TAMU, but this is extreme...

They are not firing Mack!!!!! Not this year!!!!

The rusty cows are just not very good. They should change their mascot to the Bart Simpsons since they are the best underachievers in CFB...at least according to recruiting rankings.

..and I don't buy the "youth" excuse. TCU has played just as many freshmen and redshirt freshmen as anyone and they don't suck that bad.

I agree, it boils down to coaching and I hope Mack stays at least five more years!!! Love the RRSO outcomes lately!!! :-)

This worked for the first 4-5 games of their 5-7 season...after that many games they should be experienced enough to run the plays....

This might be the biggest offseason yet with programs changing coaches. Cal, aub, tenn, and possibly tx in the mix for changes??? Should be interesting.

Yep...Either Mack is too involved in Harsin and Diaz...or those two weren't that good...I tend to lean toward the first one

TU will either give MB one more year...or he will quietly resign..

Texas is too image conscious for a public battle...

However.....

There is no excuse in the world for a team the caliber of TX to lose AT HOME to a team playing 14 or 16 freshmen!!!! I will say next week there is no excuse for OU to lose on the road to a team with the same if that were to happen!!!! I expect a dog fight for 3 qtrs next week but then our experience at the skill position should win the game by 2 td's on the road!

TX will not be in the mix, he still has them making more bucks a year than anyone, than anyone, so why would they cut off their nose just to spite their face.

That's the problem. More interested in revenue generation than winning.

Okay, then they will wait until January 1, 2013!!!! :-)

Well, here's what I saw last night:

Ash was struggling to find receivers especially on out routes, and Harsin didn't dial up any deep throws to keep the defense honest and back the DBs off. Stoopid.

TCU has a couple of legit pass rushers so Harsin decides to abandon the running game and throw the ball more. Stoopid.

Ash throws 2 picks in the red zone when TX should have been running the ball. Stoopid.

Harsin's Boise State finesse crap only works when the QB is having a good day. Ash has proven to be inconsistent and bringing in McCoy to throw the ball some more is just stoopid.

Harsin has as many skilled speed players at this disposal as Chip Kelly and I keep asking myself "what would Chip Kelly do?" Not something stoopid.

The defense played ok but Manny Diaz's stunting and twisting always comes at inopportune times. Never mind the down and distance, let's blitz ... to the side away from the run! Still the defense played ok and limited TCU to 20 points it was poor tackling on D and special teams that got them in trouble.

Very good point and very true. Hasn't he been rumored to want the AD position and Deloss's retirement? BTW, has anybody noticed that TX has an 84 yr old Athletic Director? Dude might it be time to ride into the sunset and let some younger blood in?

With that record since the last NC game and the (alleged) top five recruiting classes every year I have wondered how and why Mack has kept the spot. Last night was an embarrasment and I think it was the game that will ultimately cost Mack his job. That being said I think Default2 in post 11 hit it on the head about how it will happen

And another thing What ever happened to FJJ? Miss that guy and his posts.
