Pau Gasol struggling with Mike D'Antoni's offense

09:57 AM ET 11.24 | The one player who would have benefited most from the Lakers hiring Phil Jackson over Mike D'Antoni as coach is also the player whose head is beginning to butt with D'Antoni's. Lakers power forward Pau Gasol looked lost Friday night and definitely noticed D'Antoni didn't even try to find him on the bench to play him the final 13:19 of the Lakers' 106-98 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Gasol wants more post-up chances, even in D'Antoni's spread-floor offense. "I'm getting most all my looks as jump shots," Gasol said. "I would like to see something close to the basket, and not just by rolling -- especially when Dwight is there. But we'll see. We'll figure it out. We just started, pretty much." Gasol added: "How I get going is by getting in the paint and creating off the post and things like that. That's historically how I've been very successful and how I've made a really good name for myself and earned my contracts. "But hopefully I'll find a way or we'll find a way to get me a few opportunities there, too, and to get myself going that way and to be more effective."

Just yesterday from the same newspaper ... "Pau Gasol is more decisive than in years, .."

Considering they've only had 2-3 practices to work on DAntoni's offense ... give it a little time.

They got 99 problems and that **** is one.

Now I'm going to have that song in my head all day.

Interesting transition. I've always thought Pau needs to play closer to the basket also. Hopefully D'Antoni's system is flexible and works with the strength of his players. We'll see how this experiment turns out. Right now it's messy with 3 head coaches already this season.

I think they'll be okay.
Just need a few more games under their belts.
Let's not loose our head (coach) over this.

The Grizz look good this year. And beating the Lakers is always a good thing.

QUOTE(#10):

They should be ok eventually but it would be nice to have Nash back already. Let these guys finally start finding some consistency with all the starters together and one head coach. They show promise at times but other times it's messy. At least the defense seems to be playing pretty well now. That helps.

Did you ever think you'd say 'the defence is playing well' on a team coached by D'Antoni?

One of the Lakers biggest strengths is rebounding and second chance points off of boards. To leave Pau on the bench for the 4th negates that. This isn't solving a problem, but adding to the list of other problems. And the problems of lack of speed, transition and weak bench remain.

If the Lakers want to win, they need Pau on the floor. Hopefully, D'Antoni realizes this.

Jimmy Buss compounded the mistake of hiring Mike Brown with the hiring of Mike D'Antoni. This Laker roster does not have the athletes that can run his offense. The coach keeps saying that getting Nash back will make the system work but I have my doubts.

Pau Gasol clearly doesn't fit this system and may need to be traded but who will pick him up for his salary plus the 15% trade kicker? No one.

Laker fans are tired of watching this 'train wreck' of a team. I hold management responsible.
