Cowboys could lose Carter

07:00 PM ET 11.24 | The Dallas Cowboys appear to have lost a key piece of their defense for the rest of the season. Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas writes linebacker Bruce Carter dislocated his elbow during Thursday's loss to the Washington Redskins. Watkins writes Cowboys team officials believe Carter will need surgery next week to repair the injury. Carter was injured in the fourth quarter while making a tackle. He immediately went to the locker room and didn't return to the game. The Cowboys are already down linebacker Sean Lee, which means back ups Dan Connor and Ernie Simswill start as inside linebackers moving forward.
