09:35 AM ET 11.25 | Marlins manager Mike Redmond last week called an angry Giancarlo Stanton, who is not eligible for free agency until November 2016, to try to smooth things over. The Marlins are not shopping Stanton, whose salary could jump from 500,000 in 2013 to $7 million in arbitration in 2014. Josh Johnson expects Stanton eventually wants to play in California, his home state.

My question is to you Stanton what place did you finish with the players that was traded. Number two- you had to know about the history of the Fish before you sign that contract.

I expect Stanton eventually wants to play for a major league team, one that tries to win year to year. I expect Stanton wants to play about anywhere but Miami.

Now is the time for the Marlins to deal him if they are looking to rebuild. His value will never be higher than right now. Under team control for 4 years and he won't hit arbitration until next year. I have to imagine some team would unload the farm system in a trade.

But, Loria's got him for $500,000 this year. Too inexpensive for Loria to deal, although once again he is being incredibly short-sighted.

At some point, he's gonna be in Cali. Either before 2016, or after.

Stanton should demand a trade or play like Jose Reyes plays when he's pissed off, Oh Mike, it hurts, it really hurts!!!

Wasn't there a SNL skit about "lowered expectations?" It might be time to reprise that for Stanton and all the Miami fans.

bitter much?

He could go Manny's route by claiming his knee hurts. Then he can switch the pain back and forth between legs accordingly. Eventually they will trade him to the Dodgers.

The Marlins seem to like trading with Dave Dombrowski and the Tigers. I'm sure the Tigers could come up with a nice young package for Stanton. Nick Castellanos (20), Rick Porcello (23), Avisail Garcia (21), and Quintin Barry (28) ought to get it done.
