Aggies headed to Cotton or Capital One Bowls?

10:46 AM ET 11.25 | With BCS No. 9 Texas A&M's regular season a wrap, it remains to be seen which bowl the Aggies will draw in their inaugural SEC season. A BCS bid no longer appears a possibility with No. 4 Florida defeating No. 10 Florida State on Saturday. The Gators should be guaranteed the SEC's second BCS berth, behind the winner of the SEC championship game, when the final BCS standings are released on Dec. 2. The Cotton Bowl and Orlando's Capital One Bowl sent representatives to A&M's demolishment of Missouri at Kyle Field. The Capital One gets the first SEC selection after the BCS.

The Cotton Bowl pits the 2nd choice B12 team against the 3rd/4th choice SEC team.
The Capital One Bowl pits the 2nd choice SEC vs. the 2nd choice B1G.
This is what's wrong with the bowl system.
A&M can go to the Cotton and play either OU or KState. It will be a defacto Big 12 conference game.
A&M can go to the Capital One bowl and play Wisconsin.
A&M deserves to play better competition but thanks to the bowl tie-ins it won't happen.

It's an exhibition game....been this way forever. Sometimes you get a good match up and sometimes you don't. I like it better than none at all which is what would happen for aTm if all we had were playoffs (depending on how many teams would be invited of course). It has to be profitable for the bowls For them to continue.

This will be a real lackluster year for the bowls in my opinion. tOSU not eligible, PSU not eligible, USC not eligible and reeling from sanctions/roster limitations.
Oh what might have been if everyone had just played by the rules!

It has a sweet prime time time slot on a Friday evening ... or at least it did last year. Great for watching at a sports bar after a long week of work!
One of the elements that made the aTm vs. 'Bama game so watchable was the difference in styles ... 'Bama's traditional approach vs. aTm's high octane spread. If aTm plays OU it will be 2 teams with the same style going against each other ... not as interesting IMO.
Yeah I know I'm too picky but bowl season is my favorite time of year!

They had bowl tie-ins before the BCS.
Big8 went to the Orange Bowl
SWC went to the Cotton Bowl
Don't remember how the opponents were selected....that that was the problem...The top four teams were usually conference winners so, with the tie in, could never play each other...that was more a travesty to me...

Congrats to Texas A&M! They are looking very good, and I see them being in the run for the title next year. The SEC was a good move for them, and I think they will be picking up a lot more big time recruits out of Texas. They will be a force to reckon with.

Capital One Bowl will take aTm. Not sure that Wisky will be the choice. Probably will go with scUM, assuming the COC don't crap the bed in Indy.
