Red Sox talking to Nick Swisher

02:06 PM ET 11.25 | Boston recently added Jonny Gomes on a two-year deal, but aren't done shopping for their 2013 outfield, according to a recent report from the Boston Globe that describes them as in "ongoing talks" with Nick Swisher. The switch-hitting outfielder has spent the last four seasons playing with the Yankees, and is not going to come as cheaply as Gomes, who signed a two-year deal with $10 million at the end of last week. It's easy to see why Swisher, who turned 32 today, would draw some interest in the free agent market. With a career triple slash line of .256/.361/.467, his bat is a proven commodity; he can reliably play either corner outfield spot as well as first base; and he hits almost equally well from both sides of the plate. In short, he's a versatile, consistent veteran with an excellent track record in durability.

from any stand point,,, hamilton and BJ UPTON makes better impact in the red sox lineup, for hamilton 3 years deal should be fair for both sides, about BJ UPTON things could be a little more complicated upton would be looking for a 5 to six years deal and the red sox should need to be very wise in how to make business for a long term,,,,

Swisher is a tard and he sucks. Boston has enough $$$ to bring in real talent and leave this schmuck in NY where he belongs.

Swisher is okay. You have to appreciate him for what he is...a complementary piece. He is not a star. With the Sox, I think he would fit in okay.
But, I would like to see the team give Kalish a chance to start. The team needs a SS, a good 1B, and a couple of starters. Why another OF?

The Boston management needs to realize that my signing Swisher they would be hurting their rival, but now there is a new player on the scene in Toronto to watch out for.
