QB controversy? Harbaugh's not talking

08:03 AM ET 11.26 | Going with the "hot hand" would seem to be working in Colin Kaepernick's favor these days, considering that on Sunday he threw for 231 yards and accounted for two touchdowns against the Saints. But Jim Harbaugh remained tight-lipped about who his starting quarterback would be moving forward. "He acquitted himself very well," Harbaugh said vaguely when asked if Kaepernick still had the hot hand and thus the starting job. So, is he still the starter, Jim? "We'll address that later." ... Smith, who was cleared for action Saturday, said he hadn't been told who the starter is moving forward, either. "No idea. Honestly. Don't have any idea," Smith said. Smith was the No. 2 quarterback on Sunday.

That's one thing I always liked about Jim Harbaugh. Even as a QB he never cared what anyone else thought.

Can they beat The Giants? That's The Controversay?

With that defense he could start Trent Dilfer at QB and still win.

Packers and the 9'ers have brain farts when they play the giants....

Giants match up very well against those teams, just like they do against the Pats. It's New Orleans that gives them trouble all the time. I also expect RGIII to give them trouble next week. But it was very nice to see them play so well last night.

Pressure like the Giants can bring, when that pass rush is clicking, will cause a lot of mistakes.

Word. We're fighting for a playoff spot, and hopefully don't let the bright lights of MNF blind us, but THE R always rises to the occasion... The kid doesn't ever seem rattled.

Seems like it's QB's that move around or outside the pocket that give them fits. Romo lights them up pretty well, too.... Romo... HeeHee!

That was a gambler's nightmare last night. Impossible to pick. But Big Blue does seem to find a way to make these guys suffer.

Hopefully the receivers will hold onto a few.

As coaching problems go a QB controversy is a pretty good problem to have.

Exactly wheres the controversay? The Pack, 49ers, have already been dissed multiple times by the Giants. Did you think that was an illusion? No it was real and ain't $hiit changed as you saw yesterday.
Mark my words..........Har-ass is going to be the down fall of the 49ers. He is an arrogant prick, he was one at Sanford and his ass is one now. Alex Smith has only went 20-5-1, with 104 passer rating the past two season for his dumb ass and the thanks he gets is a controversay created by none other than this moron Har-ass. This worm lied during the Peyton Manning events and then at last minute offered him the starting job. You do go after Manning but not in that fashion, do it with grace. This moron thinks he's gonna win a ring with his defense and is not concerned with offensive production. He has Randy Moss being thrown to one time a game. I'd love to see either Peyton, Drew, Rodgers, Eli, or Ice have Moss and see what they'd do. We already saw what Brady did. I hope we meet they bittchh ass again in the playoffs and send this Rex Ryan clone home wit that stupid dumb look on his face as they did last year. Mark my words....Rex first two years AFC Championship appearance and now look at his silly ass, the same thing is going to happen with Har-ass. You heard it from Apple!

To be fair, there hasn't been a lot of criticism for Harbaugh picking CK over Smith. Smith's numbers have been good, but there's a dynamism that is so far evident in CK that Smith has rarely shown. It's unfortunate, because I think he's a good QB finally coming through after years of crappy OC's and even worse receivers. But Kaepernick has been beyond good the past two weeks.

More of a sympathy issue than anything else. You feel for Smith, but understand why this has to be the way it is.

This is not a bad problem to have...as long as they keep winning.

As long as the locker room doesn't fracture over it. No signs of that here.

That kid didn't look as good as Troy Aikman made it out to be. Look the defense was responsible for two touchdowns, and the kid had an average day without any mistakes. In Alex last coupla games he was 27-29 without any mistakes. Kolb, Cassell, Flynn all looked good for a coupla games, now look at their asses. One thing I know for sure is it only takes a coupla games for poster on this site to think somebody is all world.
Terry Bradshaw said it perfectly yesterday...."Har--ass action is both unwarranted and foolish!

Smith has been patient and diplomatic throughout the whole Manning and Kaepernick situations, but I don't think it will last forever. He could be headed to a new team next year if this keeps up.
