08:14 AM ET 11.26 | This week could be a busy one for the Phillies as two of their free agent targets appear close to reaching decisions. Centerfielder B.J. Upton "is looking to make a decision this week," Marc Topkin reported in Sunday's Tampa Bay Times. Meanwhile, reliever Ryan Madson could be on his way to joining the Los Angeles Angels. According to a person with knowledge of the Phillies' offseason plan, the team has prioritized signing Upton "if the money doesn't go crazy." It could take a five-year deal with an average annual value between $13 million and $15 million to get Upton. Phillies officials, including manager Charlie Manuel, met with the 28-year-old Upton earlier this month.

You better make good choices on signing free agents because you are behind both the Nats and Braves in your division.

As long as they realize he's a .250 hitter and that's all he'll ever be, they'll be ok. If they think he's going to show up and hit .290, they'll hate him.

13 to 15 million for an average hitting outfielder? Why didn't they just keep Victorino? He's a better fielder.
