Burke undermining Leafs ownership?

08:25 AM ET 11.26 | Brian Burke's recent appearances with Gary Bettman and Bill Daly have raised more than a few eyebrows. Is Burke representing himself, his personal views, or the views of the ownership of the Toronto Maple Leafs? Burke is a known hardliner on the NHL's side, a hawk on the owners' side. But it would be in the best interest of current Leafs ownership to be playing as soon as possible. In other words, it is thought the Leafs' owners -- Larry Tanenbaum, George Cope of Bell and Nadir Mohammad -- would be closer to dove than hawk when it comes to settling the lockout. This labour split of sorts has some observers wondering what Burke's long-term future would be with his personal politics taking precedence over that of his team.

K I'll defend the drunk ****:How does appearing with ownership make him look hawkish? Because he's attending negotiations? Is Sidney Crosby a white-tailed doe because he attends with Fehr? Does anybody really have any idea what's going on in that room and inside these guys' heads other than those present? Because none of them have really said anything to the media. Bloody Sun.

All I will add to that is

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I wonder how the lost season will affect Burke's 20 year rebuilding plan for the Leafs. Will they make the playoffs after his 20th year as GM or 21st ? I'm confused.

How can one undermine an ownership that undermines itself?

Burke is just nothing more on a sad face on a franchise that is like a ship cast adrift...
