GSP wants Anderson Silva superfight on his terms

11:54 AM ET 11.26 | In a recent television interview, Georges St-Pierre cleared up his stance on a potential superfight with Anderson Silva. "He weighs 234 pounds; I weigh 188. So there's a big weight difference. I've fought guys who were bigger -- I'm not scared of him -- it's just that I will take this fight when it makes sense for me. I just came back from an injury, there's money to be made, there are fights in my weight class, other challenges out there, and if I fight him, I will have to gain weight, while he will have to lose weight, and then afterwards, I won't be able to come back to my weight class," GSP said.

Good for GSP!

The stunts White has pulled...bringing Silva to the fight (the caption of Silva was in the corner of the screen most of the fight...ridiculous), announcing the "Superfight" before and after, having Joe Rogan ask about the fight and wanting GSP's answer on the spot.

I think it was totally classless of White to ambush GSP, starting even before the fight. I thought Silva had more class than to go along with White's charade. I think Silva's going along with this because he doesn't want to fight Jones.

Why can't they just leave fighters in the weight class they want to be in...especially champions?

I hope GSP doesn't do it. There is absolutely no upside. Once he builds on the mass, he's stuck as a middleweight regardless of winning or losing. If he wins, Silva's still champ and GSP has to fight his way up for a shot. If he loses, White will take away his vacated Welterweight title, and he's stuck fighting for two years to get a title shot with Silva.

I think it's a shortsighted and incredibly stupid business idea. The UFC will get one big payday, but whoever loses is destroyed as a paycheck.
Look how the careers of Penn, Hughes, Liddell, Sylvia, Lesnar, and Franklin went...all seemingly formidable champions until losing a big fight.

These are the two most popular UFC fighters, and the two biggest draws. The fact Dana White wants to cancel one out for one big payday is crazy.

Very well said and a great point you make.

I really have lost respect for Dana White.
