08:06 AM ET 11.27 | The Mavericks practiced Monday morning in Dallas, then hit the road for what begins Tuesday night as a stretch that will see them play eight of their next 10 games away from home. Guard O.J. Mayo smiled when asked whether life with Coach Carlisle has been fun the past two days. "Shew, he was on us tough, man," Mayo said. "But as competitors and the disappointment that we felt in that Lakers game, it's all right. I think we came in ready to work and get better." Mayo said this stretch of road games can actually been beneficial for a 7-7 Mavericks team that is struggling to find its identity without star forward Dirk Nowitzki. "I think so," he said. "It's tough. ... We have no choice but to band together and string out some wins."

What does Otis have to say about this?

QUOTE(#2):

Just go .500 or above and you'll be fine. Make use of Kaman down low. DC needs to attack the basket more and push the ball. Carlisle is losing it. Made some bad decisions on some close games. He relies too much of Carter.

THIS!!

I can't, for the Fng life of me, understand why carter gets last shots!!!!!!

The Mavs going 7-7 w/o Dirk is actually not too bad. I remember when the Mavs won the title, Dirk was out for a couple of weeks and the team went 1-6 or 2-7. This was with Kidd, Terry, Chandler, etc.. So, things aren't that bad for the Mavs. But Dirk needs to get back soon.

Even with Dirk the Mavs are going nowhere. At best they become first round fodder and end up out of the lottery.
