Eagles release Jason Babin

03:28 PM ET 11.27 | Defensive tackle Jason Babin as been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, the SB Nation blog Bleeding Green Nation is reporting Tuesday. Babin, a nine-year veteran, has spent the last two seasons with the Eagles where he made the Pro Bowl last year. This season, Babin had compiled 26 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks. Babin had a sack and four tackles in Monday night's 30-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The loss dropped the Eagles to 3-8 overall.

The official line is they want to create more playing time for younger guys so they can evaluate them, but it's a salary dump.

Babin won't be the only victim, either. Both of those corners are probably already packing.

Wow if the Pack could get this guy they may actually have a pass rush. What a novel idea a pass rush. No one else seems to be able to do it.
Teams just double team Mathews now knowing no one else on the d line is worth a hill of beans and that seems to work well.
The Problem is the Packers staff thinks there pass defense is doing well.
