06:04 PM ET 11.27 | Phils' catcher Carlos Ruiz, one of their most popular and productive players, was suspended by Major League Baseball on Tuesday for a violation of their substance abuse policy. As the Inquirer's Matt Gelb notes, Ruiz has been suspended 25 games, meaning the first game he'll be able to suit up for in 2013 is on April 28 in New York against the Mets. The banned substance in question is the ADD drug, Adderall, most commonly used by young people and students. Ruiz was suspended because this is the second time he has been found guilty by Major League Baseball of using the substance. His first test triggered more frequent testing, which led to this second positive test.

Adderall is an amphetamine and gives one all of the performance benefits thereof. You have to have it on the banned list, even though it has medical benefits.

ADD/ADHD is something you get a diagnosis for, then get a prescription for Adderall (or Ritalin, or whatever). Getting the diagnosis is not difficult if you really have the condition. Getting a controlled substance without a prescription is much harder.

Philadelphia is one of Americas Jewels, they do have some athletes that are not the sharpest knife in the draw, but they got great, crab fries, steak sandwiches and American History, if it wasn't for the fearless people of Philly, I might be having Tea at Four in stead of a Cold michelob!!!
