Could Jimbo Fisher spurn FSU?

12:52 AM ET 11.28 | As with any head coaching search, particularly in the world of college football, every university thinks they can get what they want (see: Arkansas and Les Miles). And, while Arkansas isn't currently trying to pry any SEC coaches away from their teams, they're looking not too far short of that in the ACC, specifically a few hundred miles west of Baton Rouge in Tallahassee. According to multiple reports, Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher is one of Auburn's top targets to replace Gene Chizik, whom they fired on Sunday. While Auburn is batting their eyes at Fisher, he reiterated that he's a married coach and won't be cheating or divorcing his current program any time soon. But if Fisher were to renege on his word, he wouldn't be the first guy to do it. Let's not forget Nick Saban's adamant plea that he wasn't going to coach Alabama and leave the Miami Dolphins in the dust -- which was exactly what he proceeded to do.

I think Jimbo stays at FSU, at least for now. Auburn IS an SEC team, and usually a good one. But right now, that program is a freakin' MESS. I think Jimbo's smarter than that.
Not to say he'd NEVER leave us, of course. We can, and should, offer him more money, but unless he sees FSU as a "destination job," he will always be one offer away from packing a Mayflower truck.

EWO - Per my FSU source here, she says that there are some in the FSU family that has never accepted Jimbo after the Bowden incident. Do you see Jimbo ever being completely accepted by all the FSU family? If not, is that the main reason he may leave?

Charlotte promoters can spin this by prompting folks to buy tickets and give 'em to service personnel stationed in NC, vets, and folks down on their luck, then, bus in HS students to fill the stands.

If Jimbo leaves the Noleys for a dumpster fire like Aubie, FSU will suffer the ramifications for years.
The word will be out that the Bowden faction calls the shots, the job is for puppets or weaklings only, and finding a truly good coach would be harder than ever.

Yeah, there seems to be a legitimate schism between Bowden loyalists, and those who accept Jimbo.
As far as acceptance by the "FSU family," it depends on who you mean by "family." What do the decision makers and money men at FSU think of Jimbo? That is ultimately what matters. I believe they are pleased with him and what he's done for us, but that's mostly speculation.
Myself? I seem to fall into a very small category of 'Noles fans who think that Coach Bowden got screwed, but who are also very happy with Jimbo. In the words of Geddy Lee, "...changes aren't permanent, but change is." Jimbo is our coach. I believe he's done well, and I'm behind him 100%.

Screwed?
FSU fell apart under Bobby. By the time he retired he was so detatched he probably didn't even know half the players on his roster.
FSU let Bowden hang on a lot longer than they had to.
