Teammates distracted by Withey's dominance

08:16 AM ET 11.28 | Officially, there is no more effective shot-blocker in Kansas history than Jeff Withey, who sent back a dozen against San Jose State. KU didn't count blocks as an official statistic until the 1970s, and although anecdotal evidence suggests Wilt Chamberlain had as many as 14 in a game, the official school record was 10 [before Monday]. ... Withey's dominance creates a peculiar problem for the Jayhawks. Even his teammates are tempted to stop and admire, which in turn creates even more block opportunities for Withey in help situations. "Most of the time, and I'm guilty of it too; we got caught standing around watching Jeff like a fan," point guard Elijah Johnson said. "That's when we need to snap back into it, because he can't do everything on his own."

Whitey was the first thing I thought of, too. Sooooo many jokes....

On a somewhat related note, I like the commercial where the white middle-aged guy is named Michael Jordan and every time he introduces himself, the face of the person he is introducing himself to gets so sad looking.

What a waste of a B-ball thread!

Funny thing is: Last year, Anthony Davis was "all-the-rage", averaging around 14.5 pts, 8 and a half rebounds, and a little over 3 blocks per game, and Withey is rubbing Davis' face in those numbers. Can you say NBA prejudice?
