Could the Miami Heat deal Dwyane Wade for Al Jefferson?

11:10 AM ET 11.28 | Let's face it: the Miami Heat are nearly unstoppable, but teams can always get better. The glaring hole in Miami's roster since the formation of the Big Three has been the five-spot. They use power forward Chris Bosh at center, who, while effective, still is not a center. He's too thin to body up against Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum...and even the likes of Al Jefferson, Nikola Pekovic and Marc Gasol can give the skinny (almost frail) Bosh a fit. Utah is rebuilding, to be sure, but Al Jefferson has an expiring contract and is no lock to remain in a Jazz uniform, to say the very least. Utah also has a shoot-first aging point guard in Mo Williams. How much sense would it make to trade Jefferson for Dwyane Wade? A lot.

I know this could be a great move on both side, but from a fan standpoint like I am this is a big betrayal after all the things DWade has done for the HEAT Org, he just made LBJ & CB4 sign for them w/o DWade Miami Heat would still be looking for their 1st Championship!!!

It's still a business and it's about $$$$$ , a lot of $$$$$.
So from the business standpoint, yes, trading Wade is a great idea. I would have traded him last year for that matter.
From a loyalty perspective and the reasons you just gave: you can't trade Wade. But the guy is declining so fast and he's only 30 years old. He'll be washed up in 2 years, such a shame.
So what do you think the Heat should do when his contract ends in 2 years? Re-sign him? I better hope not. From a loyalty standpoint you HAVE TO but why set the organisation back by doing this.

The chances of the Heat trading Wade for Jefferson are zero. Now you have all these poster on this site trying to use ignorant rational, (yeah the same ignorant rational used in trying to justify the Knicks signing Jeremy Love) to justify such an idiot move by the Heat in dealing Wade. Pat Riley had Wade coerced Lebron & Bosh to sign in Miami and now you have all these bright fellows suggesting otherwise.......pure nonesense I'll say.......shutty!

This will not be a good move for Miami. Wade is the best shooting guard in the league. Without him their offense will be slowed, forget those fastbreaks. Pat Riley is no dummy. Wade's role on the team can not be replaced by anything Al Jefferson brings to the table... this aint happening. If they can get Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay or an elite point guard for Wade that will make some sense but then again why break something that's not broken?

With Wade in sharp decline and becoming even more prone to injury, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad move. The Heat belong to LeBron James now. Wade is not the star of the team anymore.
But, I can't see any such trade happening. Regardless of anything else, Wade's name and star-power is too great to be swapped for Al Jefferson. Tactically, it might not be a bad move, but it will never happen.

Thank you. That was a great comment!
D Wade is still one of the top 10 players in the league. He will still be playing at that level for at least the next 2-3 years (outside of a devastating injury). It doesn't matter if he misses games during the regular season. All that matters is he is ready and rested come playoff time.
