03:19 PM ET 11.28 | Current Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw has every reason to defend his former boss, Phil Jackson. Shaw was Jackson's lead assistant during his final days with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he was in line to take over when Jackson retired in 2011. However, the Lakers decided to go in a different direction, and Shaw eventually hooked on with the Pacers. That's why it's not a surprise that Shaw didn't have nice things to say about the Lakers' decision to interview Jackson, but then go with Mike D'Antoni as their new head coach. "Your guess is as good as mine," Shaw said when asked why the Lakers passed on hiring Jackson again. "It's mind-boggling. That's all I can say about it."
