Forsberg's foot responds well
Peter Forsberg gave his comeback attempt another thumbs-up when he told reporters in his hometown of Ornskoldsvik that his right foot has responded well to hard skating. Forsberg, 34, skated with his former Swedish team, Modo, on Monday after three sessions on his own last week.

I think it's for real this time. The problem with his foot earlier was that he didn't know what problem it exactly was. The difference this time around is that the last time he got hurt (November?) he knew exactly what was wrong and focused on strenghtening that. So, he's on the right track. And let me tell you, he's in better physical shape than ever, so if just his foot can stand the heat, he will be a force to reckon with in the playoffs. Probably take a few weeks for him to get back into game-pace, but IF the foot in fact holds up this time, which I'm positive it will, the team getting him will be getting an impact player.

bostongm, true... but hopefully he can stay (relatively) healthy for one or two more seasons so he can have the proper ending to his career that he deserves.

I'm hoping he can end things more properly as well, but you gotta think that this is a gamble for whoever signs him. Sure, his foot feels fins right now, but hockey is played at another level in the NHL, and at another level beyond that come the playoffs. Does he have the durability to play every 2nd night? Any team that picks him up certainly doesn't intend to sign him and make an early exit out of the playoffs, so he'll have to play every second night for at least a month, but, ideally (at least to the team that signs him) for more like 2 months. On top of that, what happens if he gets hit in the foot with the puck off a shot from the point or something? I hope he can make it back to the Show, and I hope he is effective (at least until he meets the Red Wings, haha), but anyone who picks him up had better not be placing all their hopes in him.
Mind you, for a team like the Sens or Wings, who likely don't really want to lose any of their roster players, but really DO need that one missing piece, he could be very attractive, since all you are giving up to get him is a little bit of cash. I'm not looking for daily updates on this guy at all, but I'm definitely curious to see if he can pull it off and who he will end up with. Philly is leading the pack, by the sounds of it, but you never know what could happen...

philly's got him on lock. there's no question. the Av's are still a little ways from the cup. no one expected the flyer's to be this good this year, not even them. add a guy like him to their young, fast, hard hitting team and you've got cup contenders written all over the place.
plus, brodeur needs to get shot or something, that would definitely help our chances of making it.

Flyer's are a year or two away from being serious cup contenders. They lack experience by obviously being so young. Even with the nice streak that ended last night by (the player I hate most in the league) Brodeur, they lack consistancy. But they are playing better than I ever could have imagined.
And you're right von turk, a nice little ham string would do it.
