08:11 AM ET 11.29 | The Pirates, of all teams, are threatening to break up a nice union. From the beginning it appeared the marriage between Russell Martin and the Yankees would easily continue. And while that remains the way to bet it because the Yankees have no in-house options and the free agent market for catchers is thin, there are signs that a divorce is possible. According to an industry source with knowledge of the situation, the Pirates have increased a two-year offer to three for Martin that is worth upwards of $22 million. And the deep-pocket Rangers are also very interested in having Martin as their catcher. Martin made $7.5 million last year when he hit a career-high 21 homers but batted a career-worst .211 and had to get hot to get there.

Instead of overpaying Martin you can bring in catchers for try outs who can also hit 200 or a little better and the money you save put it on a pitcher or run producing hitter.

Actually, he wouldn't be that hard to replace. He didn't really provide much offense, and pitchers if need be can call their own game if were to go to a young catcher. All we'd have to do is make sure we got decent defense from the replacement. Honestly they try to make mountains out of mole hills.

No tears from Yankee fans if he goes somewhere else. Stewart is better defensively and neither of them hit enough to bother with. You sure do not want him plugging up a roster for three years.

Yep....especially the Colts' coach. These girls probably normally are very into making sure they look pretty but when somebody you know is sick it changes your priorities.
