Longhorns courting transfers like never before

08:13 AM ET 11.29 | A new era of sorts has been ushered in at Texas. For years in the Mack Brown era at Texas, recruitment of junior college prospects was treated like an airborne illness. It was to be avoided at all costs. But, as has been the case with several aspects of the Longhorns' program in recent years, the 5-7 season of 2010 changed the way Brown and his staff do things. Texas' 2012 signing class was the first in more than a decade in which Brown offered scholarships to and signed junior college recruits: left tackle Donald Hawkins and defensive tackle Brandon Moore. So far, the Longhorns have made four offers to junior college players for this year's class. They have a high level of interest in a fifth prospect and are on the hunt for more.

Cuz they haven't done a good job evaluating HS talent lately.

Or, they have done a good job developing that talent.

Or, both.

Their fans didn't have to look like that every time OU scored. They headed for the exits and to the state fair after the third TD.

LOL, I took some panoramic photos on my phone of the stadium. They are awesome, one half all red, the other half empty!

This has been a staple of SEC teams forever.

When he learns to actually "stash" guys with certain Juco schools for later consumption, THEN he'll be back on the winning track.

;-)

Jucos are sometimes necessary to shore up positions that have a deficiency of talent. If they can come in and contribute significantly immediately, they are a good move.

The problem recently is a lot of teams have loaded up on 4star and 5star jucos that cannot contribute immediately, then the season goes sour and everyone wonders what happened since you had such a high rated class. There's nothing that can take the place of a 4star or 5star that's been with the program a solid 2 years. Jucos are a stopgap when you haven't been able to get the 4 year players.

Mac doesn't even know Brenham is in Texas or he would have driven down the road a little when the Aubie bag men paid for a church.

I think the only "Stashes" Mack knows about are his running backs weed and his own viagra!
