08:15 AM ET 11.29 | Alabama coach Nick Saban said the decision isn't an easy one -- ever. Freshman wide receiver Chris Black, who has yet to see the field this season, wants to play. His family supports that line of thinking, too. It's why Saban doesn't see a reason to hold Black back Saturday against Georgia in the SEC Championship. "(The decision) wasn't made by just me," Saban said after Wednesday's practice. "Chris wants to play. He can help the team by playing." Black injured his shoulder during an August practice at Bryant-Denny Stadium and promptly underwent surgery. He was a bystander for months until he returned in a non-contact jersey after Alabama's Nov. 3 win at LSU.

Sorry, but that is a bone-headed decision. This late in the year to pull a kids redshirt??? Will he really be the difference in if you win or lose?? NOT!!!

Could be. Kid is supposed to be a stud. We need to take some of the pressure off of Cooper. Remember Alabama is playing to be in the BCS and then maybe playing to win it. If this kid can contribute to that you play him. I know it will blow his red shirt but with the loss of two key receivers it might be necessary.

One game? You mean the one game that gives you a chance at the BCS? WOW!!!!!
I guess you are right. This kid should stand up in front of the team and say "I would like to help but it might blow my chance at a good statistical season."
It is funny how some people can't get passed their jealousy and they need to pick out any detail and point their fingers and say "that is why that guy/team is a bunch of scum bags."
I hope you are able to get passed this someday.

I would agree with you ccg, but these ooper duper Bama kids never stay four years anyway. If he's this good, they should have played him all year cuz he's gone soon as he gets the chance.

If he were a stud ready to play he would have already been in the rotation!

This is it exactly. I know it is the in thing to criticize everything Coach Saban does, but considering if he really is good, he'll be gone in three years, it's not like you're losing anything you would have had.

He was injured.

It's quite ridiculous, really. People who have no direct knowledge of the situation think they are experts on it.
He was on the same trajectory as Amari Cooper when he was injured. Deandrew White was starting in front of Cooper before he was injured but he was about to lose his starting job to Cooper because he's just that good.
The idea that somehow Alabama is in serious trouble if they need Black is ridiculous. We have had injuries at the WR position and if Black can play and wants to play, he should be allowed to.

He also pulled a redshirt off of Corey Webster, I believe.
