03:51 PM ET 11.29 | Auburn's reportedly pursuing the entire list of usual coaching candidate suspects, but one under-the-rader name to keep an eye out for is UCLA's Jim Mora. The boosters are apparently looking for someone with NFL experience, and Mora's two stints in the league combine with his instant turnaround of the Bruins to make him a surprisingly attractive choice.

Agreed. Maybe he likes the beach. Time for people to think outside the box.

If you were Mora, which school would you want to coach: Auburn, where they expect a run at a national championship every year; or UCLA, where all they want is a city championship every now and then?

Mora is unproven at the college level. Chasing him is like chasing a losing streak. Mora needs to demonstrate some recruiting chops, the ability to build and sustain a program. If he's serious about making a career at this level, he'd be wise to stay at UCLA to do just that.

LMFAO!!!!! Why would Jim Mora leave UCLA for Auburn??? If anyone has been on the Westwood campus, they would know that Mora is a UCLA type of guy. Of course Jim could prove me wrong, but I don't think so!!!

I agree and you might include Ole Miss, Kentucky and Arky in that class.

Mora will get a five-year deal not to exceed $3 million annually in base salary and talent fees (including TV and radio appearances and apparel contracts). He will receive a yearly pay increase not to exceed 5% of the base pay and talent fee combined.

Sorry i didn't put this on my last comment:
.
Chizik's incentive-laden contract at Auburn was for five years with a salary of approximately $1.9 million per year, an $800,000 increase from his Iowa State contract.[19][20] Iowa State was paid $750,000[21] by Chizik to be released from his contract which was paid by a loan from Auburn that is forgiven $150,000 for every year Chizik coaches, and will be paid off entirely if he reaches the end of the five-year deal. For the BCS Championship winning 2010 season, Chizik earned a base salary of $2.1 million plus bonuses worth an additional $1.1 million, including $500,000 for 13 wins, an SEC title, a BCS bowl appearance and winning the AP SEC Coach of the Year and an additional $600,000 for winning the BCS Championship Game

I was under the impression that UCLA tried to get people on the cheap...including assistants.
Am I wrong?

and if they did, they got damn good value for Mora.

UCLA's athletic department isn't exactly wallowing in the dough anymore even if they ARE in Westwood. Their basketball teams usually carried the load over the years but haven't been in recent years. The FB team finally has a very good season this year. Their FB facilities only recently got some minor upgrades.
Their AD has alienated their fanbase and like their school president, he's a chump and a cheapskate, at least as far as athletics go.

Not Ole Miss. They got rid of their nutt last year. New coach, new direction. They won't be top tier next season or two, but they are heading back uphill.
