08:12 AM ET 11.30 | One thing the Mavs could offer Derek Fisher is minutes. The Mavericks found out in the first month of the season just how fortunate they were to have Jason Kidd -- old, but also old reliable -- for more than four seasons. He handled the point guard spot and you never really had to worry about it. He was dependable, savvy and a great leader. Someday, Darren Collison may be those things. But it was too much to ask of him at this stage of his career. ... The goal, as president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said, is to stay relevant until Nowitzki returns. "You can't get too far back or it's going to make life that much harder when he comes back," Nelson said. Fisher is being brought in as a starter.

Simply put, I've lost a lot of respect for D. Fish over the years. And he has done nothing recently to change that.
