I still say the Bosox are not a few veteran players away from being competitive and they need to be in rebuilding mode with a team starting to be a force 2-3 years down the road being the goal. I don't want to see a parade of veterans who just made contract runs and are regressing going through the motions on sub-.500 teams.

Instead of paying all these ham and eggers like Swisher and Napoli, just spend the money on a real diffrence make like Josh Hamilton. 4 years $100M.

Why not, a lineup of Ellsbury, Pedroia, Ortiz, Hamilton, Middlebrooks plus find one more bat and a starting pitcher or 2 and there is no reason that team couldn't compete in 2013.

It's that simple!

It's the starting pitcher or two which is the show-stopper for 2013 - in my opinion. That has me more worried than the position players.

LaRoche would make me nervous. He's had some good years, but he;s had just as many so, so to bad yearss.

Yeah, he's a middle of the road hitter with power. But good defensively. They'd be better off with him than Napoli.

About the only team with pitching to trade is the Rays, and they won't trade it to anyone in the AL East.
