Calipari missing key element

08:18 AM ET 11.30 | For the fist time in his Kentucky tenure, John Calipari has few answers at the point guard position, something largely to blame in the Wildcats' 64-50 loss to Notre Dame. "We didn't execute," Calipari said afterward, "and we didn't play together." Which is pretty much job one for your point guards. As a partisan Notre Dame crowd of 9,149 roared, Calipari shuffled guards like Steve Spurrier used to alternate quarterbacks. Archie Goodwin, Jarrod Polson and Ryan Harrow all got chances to engineer the UK offense. None had much luck. A week after torching Morehead State and LIU-Brooklyn, Goodwin looked like what he is: A true freshman two-guard having to play point because, at this point, UK has no other viable alternative.

The first one was against Duke. They can't be knocked too badly for that one considering how great Duke is.

Yeah, Duke won that one. and we still are not playing well together, they need to get a lot better guard play, I said it two and three weeks ago, they just do not have the kind of point guard they have had lately and that will slow them way down this year, unless he learns a lot very quickly, have my doubts about him though, figure them to stuggle with this all year, just one of those years I guess.

Seeing Calipari taken down a notch or two isn't all bad; his ego needs some pruning.
Having ND do it is doubly sweet; the IRISH are on a roll in college sports!

U.K. is a young team who is going to have to listen to their coach, and learn to play as a team! If they don't get it together, may be a bleak out look of wildcat fans this year!!!!

Truth be told Colonel, I went into that game expecting a loss. I was prepared to congratulate you the next morning. Kentucky will be good. These losses won't mean a whole lot when its all said and done.ABC. ANYBODY BUT CAROLINA.

I kind of figured you did, but I did too, they just do not have a head, you know the old saying, cut off the head and the body does not act right.

UK nation changing its tune after being on here before the season started saying they will repeat. Don't trust Harrow UK. NCSU already knew that. This is not the same as last yers class. That one was a gem. This one is a little rougher.

This is the problem with the rent-a-team philosophy. The greatest players in the world are not always guaranteed to work well as a team. When you change key players every year, expect inconsistencies, especially early in the year. KU has tremendous upside, though, as the season prgresses and they work with each other more, they'll improve tremendously. Final four minimum for these guys....

Go Irish!! Now beat another SEC team in a different realm.

I am rooting for Notre Dame for the national title! I hope we play Georgia! Alabama has had enough "glory" for a while LOL!!!!

Cal didnt recruit a shooter in his latest crop of frosh. That's his main problem with this squad. You cant just take athletes and length and throw it together and it works. You need someone who can put the ball in the basket from 12 feet, from 20 feet. UK doesnt have that, so you just pack the middle and hit the glass and you can beat UK. Florida the team to beat this year in the SEC, but UK will be better next year.

I can't believe your Buckeyes tried to bring that silly **** to Cameron indoor. What in the world were they thinking???

Oh come on man you were down 10 in the first half and looked like crap at home. You end up pulling it out in uninspiring fashion. You would have brought that same game to Assembly that same night you would have gotten the UNC treatment. Donky Punch!
