Tedford on USC's radar?

08:20 AM ET 11.30 | After USC announced Thursday that Monte Kiffin will resign, how much more change will be coming to the Kiffin family this offseason? Attention will now turn toward whether Lane Kiffin will also replace his offensive play-caller, who happens to be Lane Kiffin. While Kennedy Polamalu is USC's offensive coordinator, by title, Lane Kiffin is the team's sole play-caller, and there has been outside pressure for him to cede those duties. A radio-show report Thursday morning said USC would interview recently fired Cal coach Jeff Tedford, a respected offensive coach, but Lane Kiffin strongly denied, in a call to a CBSSports.com columnist, that USC would hire Tedford. Still unknown is how exactly USC intends to replace Monte Kiffin.

If baby Kiff is smart he may look at Chizik as DC.

Good move for dad. His D got torched too many times in college.

Given Tedford's buyout figures, who could afford him at a coordinator position?
Secondly, does Tedford want to coach such that he'd take a coordinator position and forego payout $ to be actively engaged in the game?

I don't know if Tedford would be a good OC, but LK needs to quit calling the offensive plays!!!

Have you checked Georgia's "defensive" stats the last 4/5 years and I mean even the year they won the NC????

I agree, LK should get rid of dad and get a new DC.

Reading between the lines, it seems that Pat Haden has put LK on a growth plan, with Kiffin being relegated to a titular HC role.

Trying to ween him from his diapers?

Tedford wont take that job, he will get paid too much to not work!!

I presume you mean Camburn?

Tedford is highly unlikely. This is a good start though. We needed to make this change.

Yes, even then Georgia's defense wasn't all that good.

A HC who assembles a strong staff and delegates offensive and defensive play-calling to good coordinators is what many successful HCs do in both CFB and the NFL.
Kiffin may have a hard time giving up the O play-calling but it may make him a better HC. If he doesn't improve as a HC he won't be one for much longer.
