01:17 PM ET 11.30 | Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be playing in Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report by Albert Breer of NFL.com. Citing a source close to the situation, Breer has learned that the Steelers' quarterback will be unable to play in Week 13 due to continuing issues with his ribs and the sternoclavicular sprain in his throwing shoulder. Roethlisberger originally sustained the injuries in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs and was forced to the leave the game. He has not played since.

Yep, moving on. If Cincy loses this week they will still be tied for the #6 seed. So it's not over yet Dole....

They will be better off without him.

I think maybe the Steelers can rally around Batch and pull this one off. The money is on the Ravens front seven rallying around Batch, though.

Thank goodness common sense has prevailed. I think Ben's long-term health is much more important than one game... or even one season for the Steelers.

I think we need a few more T&R threads to confirm.

"Roethlisberger originally sustained the injuries in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs..."
This is the only significant thing the Chiefs have done all season.

If the Steelers can run the ball, they'll be okay. The Ravens have given up an average of 4 yards per carry, and have given up an average of 128 yards per game.
If they can just throw from play action and avoid the obvious throwing situations, that will help Batch.
This isn't the same Ravens defense whatsoever...they're near the bottom in opponent passing, rushing and total yards; they've given up almost 20 points per game. As for sacks, they're ranked about 20th, middle of the pack in interceptions.
The Ravens offense at home is more of a worry than their defense. If the Steelers can run the ball that helps keep the ball from the Ravens.
In other words...it has to be a dirty 16-13 or similar type game.
I think the chances aren't great the Steelers win, but at least they'll have Ben for future games this year. I think the way it's going this year, a team could get a wildcard with an 8-8 record

Smart move. Keep Ben out until he's healthy, and hopefully make a run at the wild card. If not, you'll have him back next year.

Agreed. And, I'm sure they learned from last week's debacle.

Reed, Webb, and Smith are all out. Lewis won't be back until the middle of December at the earliest. The Ravens are almost as banged up as we are.
Like you said, if we can establish the run and succeed at play action, I think we can do some damage. We have Brown back, Sanders is healthy, Plax and Wallace are both in. Even with Batch throwing to them, I'm sure the debacle at Cleveland is plenty of motivation for everyone.
Honestly I just hope we can get out without any more injuries. Even if we lose, we've only got a slim chance of taking the division off Baltimore anyway. Our best bet is getting healthy for a run at the Wild Card slot, and hopefully get everyone back and 100 percent in time for the games that matter.

I'm not so sure they did, that happened AFTER embarrassing losses to the Raiders, Titans and almost the Chiefs...But, Ben should definitely sit until he is healed
