02:35 PM ET 11.30 | The Green Bay Packers have ruled out linebacker Clay Matthews for the team's game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Matthews is missing his third straight game since injuring his hamstring during a 31-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 4. Matthews left the game against the Cardinals in the third quarter, and he hasn't played or practiced since. Matthews has a reputation as one of the top defensive players in the NFL, and his statistics this season prove it. At the time of his injury, Matthews' nine sacks ranked second in the NFL. Even after missing two games, he is still tied for seventh in that category. Matthews also has 21 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.

That hamstring injury is a lingering one. Some don't recover for months.

Even with Matthews out the Pack should survive the Vikes lackluster offense and cruise to a win.

Ya right, he will be back soon. Not! I read that he hasn't even practiced since his injury on Nov 4th. That's almost a month. If he can't even hit the practice field then this injury is a lot worse then they want to let on.
He's not even in football shape anymore. Going out there without the wind and the mobility will get you seriously hurt. I would not be shocked to hear he is the next one on IR and surgery is in order.
