03:43 PM ET 11.30 | It's no secret that Pau Gasol is not an ideal fit for Mike D'Antoni's system. The new Los Angeles Lakers coach admitted as much in an interview on ESPN Radio. However, D'Antoni also admitted that it was on him to figure out a way to maximize Gasol's talents. "I just don't see how a player as smart as he is, as talented as he is, as big as he is, doesn't fit into anybody's scheme," D'Antoni said. "Then I've got to re-examine myself and think, 'I can't play with Pau Gasol?' C'mon. He's won two championships. I gotta rethink what I'm doing." Gasol, for his part, said "it's a big plus" that D'Antoni believes in him, but admitted that he is having trouble figuring out how to fit into a system after being such a focal point for so much of his career.
