06:31 PM ET 12.02 | Mark Sanchez was benched in the Jets Week Week 13 game against the Cardinals, setting the stage for the Greg McElroy era. With just over six minutes remaining in the third quarter, Sanchez had been playing terrible. Throwing 21 passes, he completed just 10 for a total of 97 yards and three interceptions. His quarterback rating on the day? A paltry 21.4. Fans hoping that Tim Tebow would get a chance were let down, as he missed Sunday's game recovering from a rib injury, leaving the second-year McElroy to pick up the pieces en route to a 7-6 victory.

McElroy had the reputation of being a dependable game manager for Alabama. He might not win any games on his own, but he won't lose them on you, either. It will be interesting to see what he makes of his opportunity.

McElroy can hold down the fort until the off season when the Jets cut Sanchez and sign Alex Smith.

He might never play another minute for The Jets, but he will get a shot from another team, he looked cool and collected out there!
