I don't think they are blaming Gasol for the loss but his production this season.

Dandummy is alienating players again. Pau is being used wrong. He wants him to shoot jumpers instead of a post game ala amare. They needed energy but the energy guy Jordan hill set on the bench and never played one minute. This is going to end bad

Granted, Howard missing free throws down the stretch killed their offense, as the Magic went Hack-A-Howard, but Gasol wasn't doing much. Before he was taken out, the Lakers had a lead at the 8 minute mark (84-77), only to watch Gasol flounder in the post on multiple possessions. That's what started the Magic run (it was 11-0, I believe, and Magic up 88-84). The Magic just got incredibly hot down the stretch. Redick, Afflalo and Nelson couldn't miss and they hit like 8 straight shots, including 4 threes. Game over. Gasol sucked, but this is as much about heart and desire as it is anything else. They didn't play like they wanted the game at the end, and Orlando did.

One more thing, I know that Steve Nash isn't going to help them play better defense, but his ability to run the offense and hit open shots, something the other Laker point guards struggle with, should help make the offense more efficient. That should help them stay engaged and help them play with more energy. I'm not saying that Nash fixes all of the problems, but he definitely makes a difference.

Sounds like the perimeter defense didn't do their part in the end.

Defense, period, was the issue down the stretch. The Magic moved the ball extremely well and hit some open shots, as well as some contested shots. Orlando scored 40 points in the 4th and 30 in the last 6 minutes.

They didn't fleece Orlando for Howard. Orlando seems pretty content with what they have. They fleeced Philadelphia for Howard. How do you think the 76ers feel about how they ended up in that deal right now?

And, again, the season is young. All Lakers ans expected much, MUCH more out of this team to this point, but there is still a LONG way to go. The Heattrio started out 9-8 in their first season together and that was WITH a healthy roster. I'm not trying to excuse the way that they've played. There is no excuse for not hustling or playing with a sense of urgency and pride, but they have plenty of time to figure it out.

Not sure why you think you need to defend PJ. Most laker "fanatics" you like to call wanted PJ in the first place.
