08:20 AM ET 12.03 | As with the previous lockout, this year's IIHF World Junior Championship will be a deep one. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' name will be on Hockey Canada's selection camp list Monday, and barring injury the Edmonton Oilers centre will play for Canada at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Russia. "He told me late Friday night, 'I want to play for my country. I just want to play in that tournament,'" Nugent-Hopkins' agent Rick Valette told Sportsnet.ca on Sunday morning. "He wants to win a gold medal. My instincts tell me that he'll play." On Sunday Nugent-Hopkins was on his way up to Edmonton from Oklahoma City, where he is spending the lockout with the Oilers' American Hockey League farm team.

I love reading agents' quotes. They're as sincere as political speeches.

True. I've recorded a lot of 'em from the campaign just finished down here. They work better than laxatives to keep you "regular".

I dunno. I think he's trade bait to be honest, so I'm guessing they wanna keep him nice and healthy.

What ? You seriously think the Oilers would trade this kid ? No chance . If they somehow did lose their marbles and move him , Calgary would be more then happy to have him.

Canada has been good enough to win the last 3 years. Our weak link has been in net each time. If we fix that this year , we will have a solid shot.

Why would you think that? I can't imagine any team giving up what they would have to in order to get him.

You are right. At least the Oilers no how to end up last and pick first . The Leafs can't even get that right.

The Laffs always have their patented play-off push right after the All-Star break...where they're 34 points out of a play-off spot only to come up 22 points short...and out of top 5 draft pick territory.

And the Canuckleheads have named their WJC camp roster...

Right you are, goaltending has been the issue. Subban seems to be the front runner but who ever it is lets hope the kid plays well

My guess would be the phone wouldn't be answered if it was a call about a trade for Hopkins.
