08:22 AM ET 12.03 | The risk of injury comes with the territory of playing overseas, and that appears to have happened in the case of Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov. The Russian, playing for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL, is currently out with a knee injury. He has missed four straight games so far, after colliding with Sergei Shirokov of CSKA in a game. Shirokov fell on Varlamov's leg -- not sure which one just yet -- and he reported feeling discomfort. ... Varlamov has missed time previously in his NHL career from knee problems. While it does not appear to be a truly serious injury, the fact is news out of Russia is always a little sketchy, so nobody around the Avalanche seems to know for sure how bad it is.

You're assuming common sense will finally prevail...Bettman doesnt care about the league or its fans.

Avs goalie suffers knee injury overseas.

Or in this case, since he is a Russian playing in Russia, he was injured at home and depending on the severity of the injury may seek treatment overseas in North America...

No prob. Just as one example Patrick Kane was sobbing uncontrollably the other day. "Let me play" he was saying. "The fans deserve hockey" He said. It took the bartender 30 minutes and a case of beer to calm the guy down. And that's just a small example of the caring they all show to everyone. :-)
