03:47 PM ET 12.03 | After missing the last game of the season for the Trojans, quarterback and top draft prospect Matt Barkley is looking to end his college career on a high note. Head coach Lane Kiffin said that he fully expects his quarterback to be ready to start the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31. For the Trojans, and for Barkley, the bowl game will be bitter sweet. It's the first time in a while that the Trojans have been bowl eligible and while it will be great to see the senior class finally get into a bowl game, it's not quite the one they wanted to be in. USC entered this season ranked No. 1 in the USA Today Coach's poll and they were expected to make a serious run at a title. At the very least, most experts thought the Trojans would end up in a BCS bowl in some capacity but instead USC will be playing their final game before January.

Well, that's a good thing for Matt, as it just might give him a shot to please the NFL scouts before the draft!!!

Luv the quote, "...he didn't stay to play in the Holiday Bowl."

El Paso is great this time of year. Just wear your bullet proof vest when in scope distance from the border.

I'm sure all the NFL scouts are just dying to see how well he plays against an ACC powerhouse.

Yeah, this year didn't work out for Matt. Maybe the Bowl game will give him a chance to impress some NFL scouts!!!

The world will come full circle if Matt Barkley signs a big contract to play for an NFL team and an Alabama QB being paid the league minimum takes his starting job.... like what is about to happen on the NY Jets.

That's what the combine is for...Some teach Will reach and take a Qb early...I think Leinhart was better coming out

Look where that got him!!

Remember, Brady was a sixth round pick!

Crap shoot and it really matters who's wings they fall under. A good coach makes a good NFL QB

LMFAO, that is not what is going to happen with the Jets!!!!

Barkley didn't have an O line to defend him or open up the run game this year, and SC's defense was mediocre at best.
He's a talented kid who should make it in the NFL if he gets on the right team with good coaching.
