06:10 AM ET 12.04 | The Fenway Sports Group and the Boston Red Sox reportedly are in the planning stages of another "Frozen Fenway" event, with the goal of playing more hockey games at Fenway Park next winter. "We are deep into the planning phase for the possibility of a return of Frozen Fenway in 2014," Red Sox executive vice president and chief operating officer Sam Kennedy said in a story reported by College Hockey news. "We will need to secure proper city approvals and complete our negotiations with the many teams who are interested in competing before we will have any formal announcement." In combination with the NHL's Winter Classic between the Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins on Jan. 1, 2010, Fenway Park hosted its first Frozen Fenway series, with Boston University beating Boston College 3-2 on Jan. 8 in a game that drew 38,472 fans. New Hampshire and Northeastern played a women's game before the Eagles and Terriers.

Don't give a rat's arse. Hockey doesn't belong in a baseball diamond.

Yeah, but it makes the NHL feel special for a day, like they actually matter.

Yeah Danny, but in reality it's the NHL making itself feel special which is akin to one of those gimmicks where you hire a party of people to follow you around and make you feel famous for a day...

What''s wrong Davey?

QUOTE(#5):

Agreed. These gimmicky outdoor games just don't do it for me. Whether the game is played in a baseball park or a ginormous football stadium, the sight lines are awful and most of the seats are so far from the action it's ridiculous.

Totally agree. If they insist on maintaining these gimmicy games they may as well go all out - "2014 Frozen Fenway ,out door, bring your dog to the rink game."
