10:17 AM ET 12.04 | New York Jets owner Woody Johnson would prefer that Greg McElroy start at quarterback for his team this week although the football minds in his front office seem to disagree, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Mehta reports that the owner of the team would rather see McElroy start over Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow after his performance in relief of Sanchez on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, although general manager Mike Tannenbaum and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano are still in the Sanchez camp. Rex Ryan hasn't made his opinions on the topic public yet, leaving all three players in the mix.

The Woody has spoken. NICE!!!!

December 4, 2012  10:39 AM ET

It's Tebow Time!

I'd like to write "Woody should shut up and leave the football decisions to the football people" but the "football people" with the Jests are such a bunch of morons (in my humble opinion) that he doesn't have that option. What nobody wants to believe, but what is true, is that Tim Tebow gives the Jests the best chance to win, week in and week out. The fact that Woody, Rexy and the rest refuse to admit that speaks to their own prejudices than to any great understanding of football.

Gotta respect them when they speak with their wood

They're playing in Jacksonville this week. The smart move is to play Tebow in front of his home crowd. The Jets oughta get a W no matter who starts, but someone might actually cheer for them if they see Tebow running out on the field.

He waltzed right in and threw a TD against the number 6 or so defence in the league, made the Cards QB look like a HS player with his play. Why not?

December 4, 2012  11:04 AM ET

Good to see someone over there has sense.

"... although the football minds in his front office seem to disagree,..."

Football minds? What football minds? There are no football minds within a hundred miles of the Jets front office.

With a tip-of-the-rag to Baghdad Bob...

Rex Ryan hasn't made his opinions on the topic public yet

This is the hard part to beleive.

They don't have any football people...that's the problem...

I say go with Tebow if he's healthy enough and get it over with already....let him implode.....so then you can move forward with McElroy without the second guessing from everyone......

The people of New York don't wanna see this spectacle further make Jetsland even more of a spetacle than it already is. Ask for this joke to be traded to your town, he embarrasses New York City, as does the Jets.

Jimmy MacElroy?

December 4, 2012  12:21 PM ET

The Jets are like a dysfunctional family. It probably wouldn't matter if they had Peyton Manning.

McElroy's gonna make Tebow cry again, just like in 2009.

December 4, 2012  12:40 PM ET

Maybe he's thinking of Roy "Tin Cup" McAvoy instead

December 4, 2012  12:56 PM ET

Tebow Time !!

How can a guy who has barely played be an embarrassment and be making a spectacle of NYC and the Jets? Just a ridiculous comment.

I can't see that Tebow has done anything other than sit the bench and keep quiet. Too bad more people in New York don't follow suit
