05:10 PM ET 12.04 | The New England Patriots placed Julian Edelman on injured reserve with a foot injury, ending his 2012 season. The Patriots have already used their designated for return tag so Edelman won't return. Edelman hurt his foot during the Patriots 23-16 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Edelman had played particularly well of late, compiling 21 receptions for 235 yards and three touchdowns on the season. In addition to his receiving touchdowns, he returned a punt for a touchdown on Nov. 18 and returned a fumble for a touchdown on Nov. 22.

Yup, he's a solid punt returner and a decent enough receiver to give Welker a break.

In the Thanksgiving Night game, he's the guy who caught the fumble in mid-air on the kickoff and ran it in for a touchdown. He is a great player.

The Pats signed Donte Stallworth again.
