01:04 AM ET 12.05 | The Miami Dolphins head coach has made very few rookie coaching mistakes this year. Maybe a TO at the wrong time but nothing compared to the mistakes made by Tony Sparano or Cam Cameron. Yet when the game was on the line this past Sunday, two of his number one defenders spent the first eight plays of the game-winning drive on the sideline. Cameron Wake and Jared Odrick spent half of the New England final drive on the sideline. In his explanation, DC Kevin Coyle explained that it was part of the rotation to keep them ready and refreshed. During his time with the media, Joe Philbin backed the decision by concurring with the rotation process.

Several game this year he's made odd calls or use of his time outs. Don't know if he gets caught up in the moment or makes a decision and then won't change it. He's not gonna last.

Failing to put your best players on the field at a key point in the game is just failing to coach.

What he says publicly might not reflect what he says to the DC in private. In public you have to back your coaches, unless you are ready to fire them. In private you discuss ways to improve ("You moron! Put the good guys in on the last drive with the game on the line!)

Wake is a pass rusher and an undersized one at that. No one will ever confuse him with a big bad run stopping DL. New England's O-line (mostly back ups at that) would have just steam rolled the little runt all over the field.
