08:04 AM ET 12.05 | At long last, LaMichael James may get his shot this weekend. Coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Trent Baalke hinted this week the second-round draft pick would get to play -- or at least suit up -- for an upcoming game for the first time this season. "That's a real possibility, and he's worked hard for an opportunity," Harbaugh said on KNBR radio Tuesday. [Frank Gore] gave his own hints about why James' debut has been delayed. James was one of the most electric players in college last season, running for 1,805 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns. But Gore noted that James had plenty of room to roam in Oregon's wide-open offense. In the NFL, those spaces don't exist, and running backs have to make do with a crease here or a small gap there.

For a division-leading team, they seem to be making a lot of key changes in the home stretch. Isn't this the time when coaches should have figured out their team already?

Ask Reggie Bush about replicating an "electric" college career in the NFL. It's just not the same.

Back in my day, the word 'electric' meant something entirely different.

Giving a different back-up running back a few carries is not a big deal. Replacing the starting QB with a rookie in mid-season IS a big deal. And the offense just isn't scoring enough points with the Kaepernick to win.

You guys realize Kendall Hunter is hurt right? This is not Harbaugh playing 'games' with his RB's, they have a hole (a big one) and need to figure out how best to fill it. That's what happens when guys get hurt in this league
