08:13 AM ET 12.05 | Not so fast? On a day when media reports identified Charlie Strong as the leading candidate for the vacant Tennessee job, there was a quiet confidence here that the third-year head coach will remain with the Cardinals. A decision from Strong on his future could come as soon as Wednesday, sources told Yahoo! Sports. Multiple sources who spoke with Strong on campus Tuesday said he seemed committed to staying with the Cardinals -- through the Sugar Bowl and beyond. They expect him to coach Louisville in 2013. "Unless he's the greatest poker player of all time, I don't think he's going anywhere," one Louisville source told Yahoo! Sports. However, Louisville sources said they were taking nothing for granted.

If he stays, recruiting will suffer. Recruits will think to themselves, "He is being courted by big money schools...he won't be here when I get to my sophmore year".
Also, if he was staying, he would have said that from the start. No "I will discuss that at the right time" comments.

I hope he gets a good offer from a school that will support him, whoever and wherever that may be. If not, staying ain't all bad -- at least I hope he squeezes a raise out of the AD. If not, he can call Les Miles and get a couple of pointers.

Charlie should stay...with Teddy he can lead Louisville to the ACC title. he just like Mark Stoops at Kentucky will struggle mightily.

Yes, but by not saying "I'm staying at Louisville" last week when all these jobs opened up, it leaves doubt in the minds of the Louisville faithful. Doubt is what kills you in recruiting.

Don't you think that recruits at Oregon or Boise State, "will think to themselves", Kelley or Petersen is/are being courted by big money schools and they won't be here when I get to my sophmore year"??

I guess I should have finished by saying, that all "good" coaches go through this and are offered jobs from other colleges or pro teams. It's part of the business.

I would bet that he is already in the finals of paperwork and will be gone. Anytime they say what he did, it is always a misdirection.
