08:01 AM ET 12.06 | Without Carmelo Anthony on the floor, J. R. Smith was left to provide New York's buzzer-beater Wednesday against the Bobcats. Anthony, who scored a team-high 23 points (3 in the second half), cut the middle finger on his left hand when he dived onto the Knicks' bench to chase a loose ball after a Smith block with 2 minutes 10 seconds left. Anthony needed five stitches to close a deep gash. Coach Mike Woodson said he believed Anthony would play Thursday, but Anthony hedged. "I want to play against Miami," Anthony said. "But at the end of the day I've got to do what's right for my finger with the deep cut that it is. So we'll see. Talk to the doc tomorrow, see how it feels. I think it's just a matter of being able to feel the basketball."

Looks like another $250k fine from Stern is on it's way.

QUOTE(#2):

Yeah I know there will be the same dirtbags thats on here everyday dissing Melo about he ain't doin this or that, will be the same dirtbags sayin oh **** up and play. It doesn't matter what Melo does, you dirtbags are still critical and guess what.....Melo don't care and niether do Apple. The same two you suckers are always complaining about got us the victory last night, JR & Melo with their passionate play and desire. In addition to that, Felton, another one on the butt of berger & fries jokes was responsible as well.........dirtbags shutty...Apple!

Not sure who you are talking to but Melo is a good player...his problem is defense. If he will play harder on both ends, he could be a real beast.

The test for the Knicks will be merging Amare when he comes back.

I think NY is a better team without him.

Tonights Heat/Knicks game will be fun to watch. Glad to see the Knicks relevant again because those old Heat/Knick battles were awesome.

We don't need that bum **** Stat so it shouldn't be a problem at all..that is, not working his buster in to disrupt winning.
