Phillies centering on Fowler?

08:05 AM ET 12.06 | On the upside, the Phillies have shown some financial restraint this offseason. Of course, that means they still have no center fielder. The need remains desperate, and it seems likely that they'll leave the winter meetings Thursday without filling the void. But they do have options. Five options, in fact. The Phillies' five-man list for center field includes two free agents (Michael Bourn and Josh Hamilton) and three potential trade targets (Curtis Granderson of the Yankees, Ben Revere of the Twins and Dexter Fowler of the Rockies). Naturally, some are more realistic than others. ... Fowler would be a great fit, but the Rockies' asking price for him has been stiff.

It depends on how much money you want to spend or how much prospects you want to give up for a canter fielder, still the best all around player out there is Bourn.

The baseball labor stoppages have always helped the players, so maybe not. Maybe if the owners could manage to drive a wedge between the major and minor league players...
