Does anybody want the Vols coaching job?

04:24 PM ET 12.06 | The Tennessee Volunteers have been at the forefront of some pretty juicy coaching rumors, but like that super hot girl in high school they've all been nothing but teases. From Jon Gruden to Jimbo Fisher and everyone in between, it seems that no one actually wants to coach the Volunteers. Two more possible candidates have taken their names out of the hat, as Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy has stated he is not leaving his program to accept a job at Tennessee. Louisville head coach Charlie Strong also stated yesterday night that he won't be heading to the SEC either and will instead stay put with the Cardinals. If the Vols were to settle for a lesser known name, things could still work out in their favor - it just might take a little longer. But by swinging and missing so fast and so hard, the Volunteers are making this a situation that whoever steps in, no matter how big or small the name is, it's a high risk, medium reward type deal. And nobody wants to get tangled in that mess.

Hell, I'll take it. I could screw things up just like the last two guys, and it would cost a lot less!

I'm shocked that coaches are using this opportunity to get huge raises from their current employers.

+1....
Seriously though, TENN needs to figure out what kind of team it wants to be-the various HC applicants don't seem to have any common thread to them. At any rate you could do a lot worse than the Duke, NIU, or Utah State HC's.

I would take the job, but only if I could be the AD too. I really think I could do better than the last two ADs, especially Hamilton!!!

Doesn't the SEC teams have a good asst coach that can take over as HC for the Vols???

You see, right there you would be in trouble. You the AD would hire such a person as you for the HC. The both of you would be fired, so get you and you a really good buyout clause. UTk has become quite good at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One obvious choice who fits that description is John Chavis, DC at LSU, who played at Tennessee, was the Vols' LB coach from '89-94, and was the Vols' DC from '94 until '08
