Let me get this straight the league locks out the players and has made no appreciable concessions from its original "negotiation" position while the players have made significant concessions from what they had under the old agreement, yet this is the players' fault? I'm not buying it.

Where exactly do you see that the owners made no concessions? Even the players have said the owners have let loose on a few of their core demands.

but the main sticking points...the real problem issues, are still issues to not let the owners be as irresponsible as they've been, without seemingly accepting any culpability for causing the problems they claim to start with.

I understand that, and i'm not defending them beyond stating that for the PA to blow up three days of good work was completely counterproductive. Not only are we not getting a season, but we will probably not have one going into next year either.

I suggest that you lok up concession in the dictionary. You cannot give up something you never had. If the starting point was miles beyond ridiculous (which it was), then moving off of that is certainly not a concession as their demands approached the realm of respectability. We are at a point where both teams have reasonable stances on most of the issues, and that if they want to get it done they will each have to take steps forward from here. The nhl has clearly signalled that this is as far as they will go. They move ot one extreme as a starting position to give the illusion of being willing negotiation partners.
