04:27 AM ET 12.07 | It's that time of year again: the announcing of the candidates for the Heisman Trophy. For those who don't know what the Hesiman Trophy, let me tell you. Three football players were named finalists for this year's award. Johnny Manziel: a freshman who has taken college football by storm. Manti Te'o: the Flyin' Hawaiin who has inspired an entire team and Collin Klein: the leader of one of the best teams in the country. Looking at each of the players profiles, you can definitely say the winner of this year's Heisman Trophy will be deserving. Will it go to Johnny Football, a freshman who put up record numbers, Manti Te'o, a defensive player who lead his team to the BCS National Championship and undefeated season, or Collin Klein, a senior quarterback who lead his team to the Big 12 title?

Klein, I think, second Te'o, and a deserving third Johnny. JMO

Considering what the trophy has become (unfortunately) it's really a no brained...Teo! The only reason it wouldn't be is because he plays defense. Either way he is the leader and the best player on the best team in the nation. He's on the only eligible undefeated team and also lead his team to the title game. Any other choice would be pure politics to have a flashy offensive player win it!

Given the history of the award, I do not think Te'o will be the recipient of the hardware.

Considering what the trophy has become... and you get Te'o?
10 of the last 12 winners were quarterbacks.
What the award has become is an award for quarterbacks.
Otherwise I agree with you. I'd prefer to see Manti Te'o win I just can't see the voters selecting a linebacker, regardless of his accomplishments.

You're right in that it's been QB's, but that is because in most cases it's the QB that was the best player on the best team those years. Don't get me wrong, if the next Barry Sanders has an incredible year, but he is the RB on a 8-4 team that has a young QB and a bad defense...I still think he should be able to win it. That just isn't the case anymore. What Teo does have going for him is those same prejudice voters that won't vote for a defensive player also don't typically vote for a freshman either, even if he is deserving...that and Klein fell of a bit the second half of the season. Either way, all I really care about is beating Bama. I'll take that over Teo winning the Heisman anyday!

It would be nice to see a player other than a QB or RB win for once. there's more to being "the best player" than statistics.

Yup, intangibles don't always show up in statistics, but they lead to wins, leadership, inspiration and team bonding! In my opinion Teo has done that far and away more then anyone else this season. It's even been at the student body, fan and coaches levels.

His team's starting QB wears the same number as him. That's how much respect his own team has for his game. Also, sad commentary on big time College football. You stockpile more than 100 players to put 11 men on the field.

IMO, history will be broken this year, Te'o will walk off the stage with the hardware. Johnny Football shouldn't even be in the conversation, if anyone should be #3, it should be Lee from USC. Just my opinion.

Damn, you must have "brain damage", what the hell does wearing the same number on defense, have anything to do with a players talent??? :-)

Good point, but ask yourself, is there a better football player than Te'o in college football today??
