Do the Heat simply not care?

08:21 AM ET 12.07 | The Knicks have now twice exposed the Heat as, of all things, underachievers -- most recently with a 112-92 win in Miami and without Carmelo Anthony. All day Thursday, they made the proper comments about working more, playing harder and how having the [Knicks] in town for a nationally televised game was just the tonic to make them care. ... There are issues, real but exaggerated, with the Heat. Their diluted defense. Whether they need a big man. If [Dwyane Wade's] lost a step (a Charles Barkley special). But the primary issue on the first week of December, in the 17th game of the season, is whether they care. Everyone seems to realize that is the issue in Year Three of the Big Three. No one's made too much noise of the issues, either.

THe Heat seem to be coasting thru the dog days of the long NBA schedule. They'll be there when the games really count. It's not that much different than the Spurs resting their players.

Miami does not play well if your team is able to play effective "big ball", meaning pound the inside and maintain constant attack from the point guard position. Two areas of weakness for Miami is the paint area and point guard area. Don't know exactly what's going on with Wade this season but he has been very quiet in terms of his play.

Very likely part of it. But still gotta tip my hat to the Knicks for the win.

Coasting or not, Miami should have been "up" for this game.
For the last 2+ seasons Miami has had issues defending the 3pt line and when teams get hot from there, they are done. Last night was no exception.
If the Heat do not start making the correct defensive rotations, they are going to find themselves playing on the road again come playoff time...not that it really matters.
