Fehr merely wrong, or fully disingenuous?

08:34 AM ET 12.07 | The sideshow of spin took center stage Thursday, and the game may have lost. It's a sad show for the league's corporate partners who associate themselves with a business that is showing it's incapable of even opening its doors and operating on a consistent basis. ... I haven't always agreed with NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr's tactics, but respected his reputation. I wonder about his ability now after he came out Thursday night and basically said the two sides had a deal only to have it vehemently rejected by the NHL. Did Fehr really believe what he said? If he did, how could he so read the situation so wrongly? If he didn't believe it and was spinning things, then it was a shameful performance to get the fans' hopes up the way he did.

Could it have been a ploy to make ownership look bad?

He couldn't possibly have. I'm not going to give Bettman the benefit of the doubt, because screw him, but for all intents and purposes he looked like a truly worn out man last night. Fehr literally played with our hearts for ten minutes fully knowing that the process was dead. It was pathetic. I'll at least give Bettman credit for telling it like it truly was from his standpoint, a position Pittsburgh's owner not named Mario confirmed in his statement last night post-presser.

Hate Fehr more. Heard Burkle had this all going smooth and nice, and here comes Fehr.

Have to kind of agree there is a great disdain in this garbageman's trash can this morning. More towards the Bettman then the Fehr more so due to the principle fact that it's his 3rd dog show. Their is still much disdain

Other then honoring all signed contracts , all the terms the owners have proposed and insisted on sound fine with me. I respect everyones right to side with whomever they choose , I however am now completely on the side of the owners. You play hockey for a luxurious living...wake the eff up . and sign up.

What Fehr did was stupid, but he is great at his job, so I will give him a mulligan. Bettman was literally blinking like a madman he was so angry. He was also so angry that he started talking about the price of masseuses again.

Well at least I don't have to root for Sid or the owners, since they couldn't fix this.

Actually he looked like a big eared, shaky bag of pus.

And that was just the good things I saw.

Yes, the players begged to hire Fehr because he ruins things...I am sure Burkle had this all going great for the players and he was looking out for them. Maybe next NHLPA director will be Burkle.

Were these guys even in the same room???? Just another instance of playing with the true lovers of the game......the fans. This has become a huge joke. Someone should be taking notes from all this and write a book.

I didn't say that, but they didn't object to him being there. And for the first time in a long time, things looked as if they were wrapping up, until they **** walked in the room. Like it or not, that's how it seemed to play out.

I wouldn't mind the NHLPA being Burkle. He gets **** done!
